Prologue

PROLOGUE

"There is only one way left!! One day you will read in a newspaper that I, Anuj khanna has died after jumping off the cliff..." The little girl barely 10 years old, sat against the locked door of her parent's room with her hand covering her mouth tightly as she tried to muffle all her sobs.

She sat there for God knows how long, listening to the cruel words her father threw at her mother in his drunken state. She knew everything will go back to normal in the morning. Her father will be all normal in the morning after giving them a traumatized night, which is nothing less than a nightmare to go  through. She immediately ran back to her room after hearing the door creek open.

Hiding behind her room's door she saw her mother wiping her tears as she walked out of their bedroom to drink some water. Oh! How that little girl's heart clenched in pain seeing the dry traces of tears over her mother's soft cheeks. She knew her mother would cry herself to sleep once again and that made her feel guilty for sleeping peacefully while her mother cried all because of the first man she ever loved yet hated. Her father.

"It's okay, I can sell my gold earrings. We have to pay his school fees at any cost. We can't let our son drop out of school just because of our financial condition.."  The boy's steps halted hearing his mother's worried voice as she spoke to his father. Peeking inside their room, he saw his father hugging his mother as she cried, cursing their cruel fate.

Selling her jewellery was the only way, she could let her son continue his studies. The 15 year old immature boy suddenly grew up in a few seconds. Crushing the poster of his dream bike he aspired to get for his birthday, He harshly threw that crushed piece of paper in the dustbin before going back to his shared room with his younger sister who was sleeping peacefully unaware of all the worries in the world. Her older brother let out a sigh and harshly wiped away the tears threatening to fall from his grey eyes.

"Dude come on! A single date wouldn't hurt."

"It's a waste of time."

Both of them uttered the same thing, sitting miles apart from eachother. Not knowing the game their destiny was about to play with their hearts. Life had given them different reasons to run away at the mere mention of "Love". For someone it was just another distraction between his life goals while for the other it was a curse, which haunts her life.
